Top Trumps: Women in STEM

Created for International Women in Engineering Day, this activity will get you thinking all about inspiring women in STEM subjects.

Instructions

To celebrate International Women in Engineering Day and get you thinking about all things STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) we thought it would be a great idea for you to make a pack of Top Trumps of some amazing female scientists. This is your chance to celebrate women in STEM and raise awareness of the exciting career paths available to girls in this industry! To help out we thought you could learn about some inspiring women in STEM subjects. These include past figures, present figures and even some close to home working at the University of Southampton. Get as creative as you want when making your Top Trumps – a template has been provided, along with some guidance you may wish to follow.

Don’t forget to share your creations with each other and with us on social media with the hashtags #INWED20 #INWED1919 #Shapetheworld, and on twitter @UoS_Engagement @UoS_Schools @unisouthampton!

If you’re interested in learning more about STEM, the university is also currently running SOTSEF goes Digital! Visit SOTSEF for lots of digital content you can get involved in and ways to learn more about different areas in STEM.

We hope you have fun learning about these fantastic women and careers in STEM subjects. Enjoy!
